Pope Francis: Proclaiming the Epicness of Families!

"Families have a citizenship which is divine. The identity card that they have is given to them by God, so that within the heart of the family, truth, goodness and beauty can truly grow." ~Pope Francis
Tonight, I sat working on a crochet project (until my yarn needle broke...), listening to Pope Francis speak, frantically typing out my favorite quotations from his speech as he gave it, and repeatedly tearing up, because...well, it's POPE FRANCIS we're talking about! Every time he speaks, blesses a handicapped person, or smiles, I pretty much start tearing up. So much love...what an amazing man. I just want to briefly share a couple of things from his talk tonight:

At the Festival of Families tonight, different families gave their testimonies (how cool is that???), cool people like Andrea Bocelli and The Fray performed, and Pope Francis spoke. While he was talking, I felt sorry for the translator. The pope was getting so passionate & talking so rapidly that at times, I think the translator was having a difficult time keeping up!

One of the couples who spoke to Pope Francis.
Pope Francis discussed families (shocker, I know!). He discussed the importance of children and grandparents, the importance of fighting for the good of the family, and the struggles that family face, to name a few. Here are some of the great quotations that especially caught my ear during his talk:
"A society is strong, it's solid, if it's edified on beauty, goodness, and truth."
"Hatred is not capable of dealing with any difficulty and overcoming any difficulty. Division of hearts cannot overcome any difficulty. Only love. Only love is able to overcome."
"The Family is like a factory of hope."
"Love is about celebration. Love is joy. Love is moving forward."
"Some things that we really do have to take care of: The children and grandparents. Grandparents are the living memory of the family. They passed on the faith. They transmitted the faith to us. To look after grandparents to look after children, is an expression of love.  Family is beautiful, but there's effort involved and there are problems...Never let the day end without making peace. In a family, you can't finish the day off not being in peace."
Pope Francis was booming out the Truth of marriage and the family. It was just...epic. Thank you, Pope Francis, for reiterating the importance and sanctity of marriage and the family!!!
